The Honda Classic is at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens next week. The event brings benefits to even those who are not into golf.
We spoke with George Linley, the Executive Director of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission regarding the economic impact on the community by events like the Honda Clasic.
"It has grown so much since it's been here in Palm Beach County, and last year the Honda Classic generated over $40 million of economic impact to our destination and filled over 6,000 hotel room nights that we could track...probably more than that."
Linley says the bed taxes from those hotel stays go back to agencies like his, to bring more tourists to the area. With eight of the top 10 golfers in the world playing in this year's tournament, that $40 million impact is expected to be surpassed.
Events begin on Monday with the Miami Dolphins Pro-Am. Click Here for the full schedule.
