The latest crime stats from the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement show that overall crime was down by 5.2 percent over the first half of this year, compared with 2012.
It was down 4.9 percent in Palm Beach County, where Sheriff Ric Bradshaw is taking the numbers in stride.
"I'd like to be able to take credit for all of that, but there's so many things that go into whether a crime is up or down. It depends on the economics, how the economy is doing, how your crime prevention efforts are going."
He tells us that the crime stats are deceptive, because if the numbers of one type of crime are low, and all of a sudden you have several of those incidents happen, the numbers can tick up quickly.
