Florida's Political Maps may Need to be Redrawn

A Florida Supreme Court ruling means new maps drawing up local political districts could be necessary.

The League of Women Voters claims lawmakers violated the constitution when they redrew political maps last year as part of reapportionment... but a state appeals court said lawmakers have absolute immunity and cannot be forced to testify about their motives.

The state's highest court has now reversed that decision... saying lawmakers and key staffers who were involved in the process have to answer questions because that's the only way to tell if they obeyed the constitution.

It's a major defeat for the legislature and it could force them to come up with brand new maps.
