Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the eastern Atlantic, southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.
The storm's maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph as of the 8 a.m. update from the NHC, with additional strengthening forecast during the next few days.
The storm is centered about 65 miles west-southwest of Brava and is moving west-northwest near 16 mph.
According to our Storm Team 5 partners, computer models show Erin remaining at tropical storm strength and eventually breaking up while still in the open Atlantic.
Of course, we'll have to continue watching it, however.
