If you're a Wellington resident, there's something of interest for you beginning at five o'clock this (Tuesday) afternoon. The Village Council will meet to decide on preliminary rates for next year's property taxes and assessments for the Acme Improvement District.
The Palm Beach Post reports the rates are likely to increase, but the public will have an opportunity to speak prior to the vote.
Regular council meetings begin at 7pm, but this one begins at 5pm because it's a special meeting convened soley for this topic. Keep in mind, whatever happens tonight only sets the preliminary rate for the 2015 budget year. The rate will be formally adopted in September along with the annual budget.
